When Life throws you a curve ball

05.20.2010 by Sandra Hoskins //

it is time to swing the bat and hit it out of the park.

Today has been one of those days when you second guess decisions you have made and wonder how you could have misread a situation and the people.  After nearly a year, a colleague has finally brought out the pitch from the mound that I was expecting.  Now, all I have to do is figure out what to do next.

So far, they have called people who I have worked with over the past year.  The stories, as relayed to me, have been truly interesting.  It proves that in every conversation that there is a minimum of two sides and they don’t have to be even remotely close.  This is an instance where everything should have been in writing and signed by both parties.  Occasionally, we make decisions based on expediency rather than what is practical and realistic.

The golden nugget for today is “put everything in writing.  Level the playing field for both parties and put a non-disclosure clause with teeth in every agreement.”  It will ensure that all parties are protected.  I have to admit this time I was caught unawares but I won’t be next time.  It is now time for me to evaluate the pitch, make a decision and blow the ball out of the park.

It has been awhile since I have blogged and I will work to contribute at least weekly.  Wish me luck.
